About Programme
General content of the program: The Civil Engineering undergraduate program is a basic engineering program dealing with the design, construction and operation of engineering structures such as buildings, dams, water structures, highways, railways, bridges, tunnels, airports and ports. The examination and production of these structures and the improvement of the ground with the materials and the planning and economic study of the projects are the other subjects in the field of civil engineering undergraduate program.


Purpose of the program: The purpose of the program is to educate civil engineers

- Academician

- Project engineer,

- Site Manager or Control Engineer,

- Manager and executive assistant at different levels

who will work in public or private civil engineering sector organizations; and who have skills on analytical thinking, systems design and work in different disciplines, also in different size projects and focus on continuous learning and self-improvement in accordance with the needs and developments in the world.

History
Our department was opened with the decision of the Council of Higher Education dated 16.12.2015 and numbered 69961 and received the authority to take students with the decision no. 24293 dated 30.03.2017.
Qualification Awarded
This program is a program that gives undergraduate level. Upon successful completion of this program, students are eligible to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
Admission Requirements
Those who want to enroll in undergraduate degree programs must get the sufficient score required by İstanbul Gedik University from the exam administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM).
Higher Grade Transition
Students who graduate from this program can apply to study in graduate programs (M.Sc. or PhD).
Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate from this program; all courses, applications, internships and similar studies in the curriculum should be completed with a weighted grade point average of at least 2.00.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
The field of study of the graduates of Civil Engineering department is quite extensive; they can work in the fields of structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, water engineering, coastal port engineering, transportation engineering, building materials engineering and construction management. The graduates of the department can take part in public or private institutions or establish their own businesses.
Assessment and Grading
a) In evaluating the success of a student from a course, the semester grade given in the semester mark given in the mid-term exam and the final grade of the final exam given in the final exam are taken into consideration.
b) For the measurement of success, the weight of the midterm exam is 40% and the final exam is 60%.
