About Programme

Istanbul Gedik University, Mechatronics Engineering Program

The Faculty of Engineering at Istanbul Gedik University established the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, which started admitting its first students in the 2011-2012 academic year. The department awarded its first graduates in the 2015-2016 academic year.

In the 21st century, the fundamental requirement for generating alternative solutions in engineering and academic research is to have interdisciplinary knowledge and experience. Particularly in solving problems in industrial fields, knowledge in mechanical, electronic, control, and software areas is required. The goal of the Mechatronics Engineering department is to provide students with both fundamental and professional theoretical knowledge and enable them to apply this knowledge in various mechatronic designs and systems.

The Mechatronics Engineering Department is dedicated to providing its students with the best theoretical and practical education through modern classrooms, computer laboratories, and the Mechatronics Laboratory located at the Aydinli Campus. Students in our department also have the opportunity to learn about mechatronic systems in practical applications through the Robot Technologies Application and Research Center and the Gedik Holding Robot Department, where industrial robots and sub-systems are studied.

Additionally, starting from the 2017-2018 academic year, the Mechatronics Engineering Department introduced its first fully English-taught Mechatronics Engineering Program.

Qualification Awarded
The type of Mechatronics Engineering Program is formal education and graduates are entitled to receive a Bachelor's Degree.
Admission Requirements
Students are admitted to YKS (Higher Education Institutions Exam), DGS (Vertical Transfer Test), YÖS (Foreign Students Examination) and Horizontal Transfer (Supplementary Article-1, Success). The admissions process at the Istanbul Gedik University is carried out by the Ministry of Student Affairs and can be obtained at https://kms.kaysis.gov.tr/Home/Kurum/71457743. The Mechatronics Engineering Program has started admitting students from the academic year 2011-2012 onwards, and placements are made based on the "Numerical" score type through central exams organized by ÖSYM (Higher Education Council of Turkey).
Higher Grade Transition
Students who graduate from the program with a bachelor's degree have right to apply to further higher education programs as Master's degree or undergraduate-based PhD programs.
Graduation Requirements
Students who fulfill all the requirements of the undergraduate programs in which the student is enrolled and who have at least 240 ECTS credits for having a GPA of 2.00 or higher are eligible to receive a diploma. The students who will be ranked are determined among the students who have graduated from the university after the final exam. Students who are placed in the University with a vertical transfer exam are included in the grading if they graduate at the end of four semesters. Double-major program students, double-major program followed by the major students of the class and graduates are not included in the ranking of student success. Disciplinary penalties except excitation and reprimand are not included in the rating. Students who failed or failed to complete their graduation thesis cannot graduate. Diploma; it is delivered to the student himself. However, if he / she can not come personally, the student is given to the person determined by a notary-approved power of attorney. Diplomas are arranged according to the principles determined by the Senate on diplomas. If the students have successfully completed all courses and other obligations of the first four semesters of the program except for the preparatory program, and if their GPA is at least 2.00 and demanded, they shall take the associate degree diploma according to the principles determined by YÖK with the decision of the related board of directors.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates from our Mechatronics program can work in diverse fields, from the automotive industry to defense technology, robotics systems to artificial intelligence and automation. They can pursue careers in industrial automation, the design and production of smart systems, and automation engineering. Additionally, they can contribute to important projects in the energy sector such as developing renewable energy systems and researching sustainable solutions.
Assessment and Grading
For each course, students are subjected to mid-term and end-of-semester exams. The evaluation of students' final achievements is carried out according to the framework specified in the Istanbul Gedik University Education and Teaching Regulation.
