About Programme

Mechanical Engineering, as one of the most basic engineering branches, provides its graduates with the ability to use engineering principles, basic sciences and mathematics in the modeling, analysis, design and production of engineering systems and components, and by professionally designing mechanical and thermal processes, components and systems, and ensuring the necessary integration between them. It aims to provide the necessary knowledge and ability to achieve the goal.

History
Mechanical Engineering Department started to accept its first students in the 2012-2013 academic year. The first graduates of our department were given in the 2015-2016 academic year.
Qualification Awarded
Students who complete their four year undergraduate education successfully, graduate with Mechanical Engineer title.
Admission Requirements
Students who have a high school diploma and participated in the exams conducted by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) are accepted to the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Higher Grade Transition
Students who complete the program of undergraduate successfully may apply for master's and doctoral programs in the field of Mechanical Engineering or in the other disciplines.
Graduation Requirements

Mechanical Engineering students meet the graduation requirement if they successfully pass all the courses in their curriculum with at least 240 ECTS credits, with a cumulative grade point average of 2.00 or higher, and complete their 60-day compulsory internship.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Internship and job opportunities are provided within the body of Gedik Holding for the successful students of our department.
Within the framework of the protocol signed between Istanbul Gedik University and tstanbul Anadolu Yakası Organize Sanayi Bölgesi, education and internship opportunities are provided for the students of our department at the workplaces in the Organized Industrial Zone.
Assessment and Grading
Grade of a course is determined according to the semester studies of that course and the level of success in the final exam. Semester studies; midterm, quiz, homework, project...etc. may consist of one or more of the studies. A grade over 100 points is given for midterm studies and the final exam. For the end-of-course success grade, 40% of the semester studies and 60% of the final exam are taken. In order to be considered successful in a course, the student must get at least 40 in the final exam. The final grade of the course is calculated over 100 points and given as the letter grade corresponding to the grade.
