Objectives of the Course To introduce the scientific research processes , determine problems related to its area and try to solve those problems with scientific processes.
Course Content Science and basic concepts relating to history science for basic information, structure of scientific research, scientific methods, problem, models of research, total field under survey and sample, data collection and models of data collection, (technique of data collection that qualitative and quantities data) enlist, analysis, comment and report of data.

Course Learning Outcomes: Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

1 Explains basic structure and philosophies of scientific research
2 Realizes basic structure of scientific research process
3 Develops research questions about his/her area and tries to define problems
4 Defines basic philosophies that qualitative and quantitative methods based on and realizes differences of those two methods.
5 Realizes basic concept and research models about quantitative methods.
6 Recognizes data gathering instruments that are used in quantitative methods and gives examples about those instruments.
7 Recognizes sampling types in qualitative research.
8 Recognizes data gathering instruments in qualitative research and develops data gathering instrument in the direction of a problem that is specific to his/her area.
9 Realizes the analyze of gathered data and process of gathering data.
10 Quotes references during the process of research reporting, quotes bibliography, cognizes other points that must be in research report together with basic knowledge and applies his/her learning by using a problem that is special to his/her area.

1 Introduction
2 Main concepts that are belong to scientific research: definition of science, scientific knowledge, phenomenon, concept, principle, law, and hypothesis. What is the research and how research process comes through.
3 Review of roots and history of research methods.
4 Data gathering process. Review of concepts of universe, sampling and variable. Instruction about methods that are used in education researches.
5 Presentation of qualitative research design and basic main concepts. Determination of problems that can be improved by qualitative methods which are special to area.
6 Presentation of qualitative research design and ways of data gathering, giving of how survey, observation form and measurement develop and important points.
7 Introduction of qualitative research patterns and giving their differences.
8 Midterm Exam
9 Introduction of sampling types in qualitative research and exemplification about qualitative samplings of problems that are special to area.
10 Introduction of data gathering methods ( interview, observation, document analyze) in qualitative research and development of interview questions and observation documents by using a problem that is special to area.
11 Review of how data analyze implements in qualitative research.
12 Introduction of parts that must be in a research report and introduction of points (bibliography, quoting reference, contents, list of tables etc.) that must receive attention in the process of writing that report.
