Objectives of the Course The aim of this course is; To learn about the cell and its general properties, to explain cell divisions, to learn about the basic features of DNA and inheritance, to learn about genetics, to explain Mendelian law, to define types of mutations, to understand the importance of genetics in genetic diseases and nutritional disorders.
Course Content Organization of living things, biomolecules, cell structure and functions, energy metabolism, quality of genetic material, DNA packaging and structure of chromosome, RNA structure, synthesis and function, genetic code and protein synthesis, basic principles of inheritance and Mendelian inheritance in single gene diseases, cell cycle and cell division, mutation, genes related to nutrition and importance of biotechnological products
