Objectives of the Course To inform the physiotherapy students about orthoses, indications, applications, modifications and to teach the possible complications of orthosis applications, to develop the ability to plan and implement appropriate treatment programs that will increase the effectiveness of the orthosis and rehabilitation, and to develop the ability to solve patient-specific problems.
Course Content Pathomechanic conditions that require to be used orthesis; aims of orthesis; material and technology that is used; orthesis and rehabilitation of lower and upper extremity; body orthesis and its rehabilitation; solutions towards preventing and removing problems and complications faced while using orthesis; technical and biomechanical usage of orthesis; amputation; reasons and levels of amputation; lack of congenital extremity; partial arm and leg prothesis; prothesis application and choice of component in accordance with lower and upper extremity amputation levels; statical and dynamic settings in prothesis; control mechanisms; walking disorders that are seen at lower extremity amputes; early and temporal prothesis applications; myoelectric prothesis; advanced technological prothesis applications and ampute rehabilitations.

1 To be able to determine the orthosis requirement of the patient and decide the orthosis
2 To be able to plan and apply the necessary evaluations before and after the application in patients with orthosis indications, to control the fit of the orthosis in patients using orthosis and to observe the necessity of modification
3 To be able to associate orthotic applications with possible complications
4 To be able to plan and implement the treatment program that will increase the effectiveness of the orthosis
5 To be able to give necessary recommendations during orthosis use
6 To be able to follow the current technological developments in the field of orthotics
