Objectives of the Course It aims to make practices that will provide nursing care, education and rehabilitation with a holistic approach regarding pre-operative, intraoperative and postoperative periods of patients who need to be treated surgically by students.
Course Content General concepts related to surgery, infection control, wound and burn care, perioperative care, patient care in hemorrhagic shock, care of the patient undergoing surgical intervention (All systems)

Course Learning Outcomes: Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

1 Defines the concepts of surgical nursing, expresses the frequent surgical interventions and treatment results.
2 Explains the physiopathology, etiology, symptoms, treatment and possible complications of surgical diseases and conditions affecting different body systems.
3 Before and after surgery, he / she examines patients and their relatives in terms of physical and psychosocial aspects, determines problems, makes diagnoses, plans and implements appropriate interventions and evaluates the results.
4 Plans and performs patient-centered and holistic perioperative care for patients undergoing surgical procedures related to different body systems, and evaluates the results.
5 It prepares the operating room for surgery and accompanies surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety.
6 It determines the needs of the patient and family in order to maintain vital functions and prevent complications in the postoperative period, plans care, applies and evaluates the results.
7 It plans, realizes and evaluates the pre and post procedure and discharge trainings specific to the surgical procedure by determining the needs for the patients and their relatives.
