Objectives of the Course The purpose of this course is to teach the major principles of Ataturk and Turkish Revolution. Turkish Revolution as well as the principles of Ataturk are very important for Turkish education system. From the primary school through the University education, this subject is taken very seriously and it is compulsory for all students. Therefore this university level class aims to teach and directs students to understand these principles in detail
Course Content Students first learn the process of Ottoman Modernization and the late periods of Ottoman Empire. The class then focuses on the first two decades of the 20th Century. Notable subjects are I. and II. Ottoman Constitutional Periods, Balkan Wars and I. World War. In the following weeks The class aims to teach how Turkish Republic was created through the Independence War as well as the creation of National assembly. Finally how the new Republic was created and the principles of the Turkish revolution are taught.
