Objectives of the Course In this course, the qualities of the Ottoman Empire, the internal and external reasons for its collapse, the policies of the Western industrialised states against the Ottoman Empire in the 19th century, the modernisation movements in the Ottoman Empire and the development of the Turkish War of Independence are explained.
Course Content Explanation of the concepts and definitions related to the course, Industrial Revolution and French Revolution, The Disintegration of the Ottoman Empire (XIX. Century), Tanzimat and Reform Edict, I. and II. Constitutional Monarchy, Tripoli and Balkan Wars, I. World War I, Armistice Treaty of Mudros, Wilson Principles, Paris Conference, Mustafa Kemal Pasha's Samsun and the Situation in Anatolia, Amasya Circular, National Congresses, Opening of the Last Ottoman Mebusan Assembly, Establishment of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and Internal Revolts, Law on Organisation, Establishment of the Regular Army, I. and II. İnönü and Kütahya-Eskişehir and Sakarya Battles, Great Offensive, Treaties during the War of Independence, Lausanne Treaty, Abolition of the Sultanate.
