Objectives of the Course The aim of this course is to teach students how to use microeconomic theories and tools to examine issues and problems in health and medicine.
Course Content Definition of health economics, basic concepts, social determinants of health, supply and market of health services demand, market failure in health sector, health expenditures, health financing, economic evaluation methods in health sector, economic growth, development and health sector, health systems performance.
Course Methods and Techniques Students are expected to come prepared for the subject of the week before the lesson. Weekly lectures are evaluated by midterm and final exams. In the final exam, students are held responsible for all subjects from the first week.
