Objectives of the Course TThe aim of the lecture for "Introduction to Sociology" is to provide students with a foundational understanding of sociology as a discipline that examines human society and social behavior.
Course Content The course covers the definition of sociology as a scientific discipline, research methods, dominant theoretical approaches in the field; introductory concepts and topics such as culture, social structure, socialization, bureaucracy, social control, deviance, social change and social stratification.
The definition of sociology, its origins, classical sociological theories, culture, society and socialization, social class and stratification, poverty, urbanization, crime and deviance, education, race and ethnicity, gender, business life and globalization determine the content of the course.
