Objectives of the Course The aim of the lesson is to educate future technicians of anesthesia who will work under the responsibility of an anesthesiologist MD for the following skills and duties: Preparation and control of anesthetic drugs and equipment before anesthesia in/out of the operating room, monitoring vital functions throughout the anesthetic process, keeping medical records, knowledge of sterilisation and emergency patient approach, enthusiastic for professional development, capable enough to gain necessary knowledge and skills, respectful for ethical and legal rules.
Course Content Definition and types of anesthesia, preoperative evaluation and preparation of the patient, airway management, anesthetic gases and drugs, stages of anesthetic practice , anesthesia machine, monitors and other equipment, monitoring vital functions during anesthesia, emergency drugs, fluid-electrolyte and acid-base balance, transfusion of blood and other fluids, definition of job and responsibilities, keeping medical records.

Course Learning Outcomes: Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

1 Preoperative preparation of drugs and equipment according to the type of the procedure
2 Daily routine check and calibration of anesthesia machine, filling the vaporizers with appropriate gases, checking medical gases and carbon dioxide absorbant
3 Checking medical records and forms regarding the medical state and operative risk of the patients evaluated by the anesthesiologist
4 Ability to monitorize the patient according to the type of procedure and patient position, being able to navigate the menu, having the knowledge of normal values, informing the physician and biomedical department in case of any malfunction
5 Knowledge of the anatomy, physiology, indications, complications and the equipment of intubation types
6 Necessary pharmacologic knowledge about inhalational and intravenous anesthetics
