Objectives of the Course To teach general pharmacology topics and pharmacological properties of drugs that affect body systems.
Course Content General Pharmacology: Introduction to pharmacology, pharmaceutical forms of drugs, routes of administration, absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion of drugs. Factors altering drug effects and drug interactions. Central Nervous System Drugs: General anesthetics; short acting general anesthetics. Narcotic analgesics, hypnotics, neuroleptics, anxiolytics, striated muscle relaxants, neuromuscular blockers, CNS stimulants, anti convulsives. Cardiovascular System Drugs: Antihypertensives, antiarrhythmics, antianginals, fibrinolytics, anticoagulants, diuretics. Respiratory System Drugs: Bronchodilators, mucolytics. Other Drugs: Chemotherapeutics
