Objectives of the Course
|
The first objective of this course is to ensure that the students develop an understanding of political history, political philosophy, the main concepts and debates of politics as a field thorough cinema as an art form and media product. The course’s second objective is to equip the students with an ability to critically relate various notable films to historical and current political and diplomatic developments.

Course Content
|
This undergraduate course plans (a) to discuss the linkages of cinema as an art and politics, (b) to decipher notable films critically with reference to main concepts of political science, and (c) to study and critique a select set of films from Turkey and abroad to exemplify how films dwell on and shape our understanding of political issues and events that we encounter.

Watching films in advance and then in class, class discussions on the film and its meanings for political concepts and practices.
