Objectives of the Course The course has two main objectives: (i) To equip students with basic knowledge that will make it easier for them to comprehend the other courses they will study in the first year and in the following years. (Ii) The whole law; on the one hand, by comparing it with the rules of morality, religion and etiquette; On the other hand, to discuss and evaluate in terms of disciplines such as sociology and philosophy. The concept of "justice".
Course Content The concept of law and the special place of law against other rules of social behavior. The importance of the principle of secularism in terms of Turkish Law; Sources of law; Public Law-Private Law distinction; Branches of law; “Mixed” law branches; Application of law: application in terms of place and time; Interpretation and interpretation methods. Issues such as interpretation of the rules will be examined.

Course Learning Outcomes: Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

1 By learning the basic concepts of law, it is easy to follow other courses.
2 Learns different aspects of legal rules from other social codes of conduct.
3 He sees the interaction between the rules of morality, religion and manners and the rules of law.
4 Understands the effects of economic, social and technological developments on law.
5 Understands the variability of the rules of law and the concept of "justice" according to time and place.
6 Gains the ability to discuss the relationship between "Justice" and "Human Rights" in the contemporary sense.
7 Learn the importance of the concept of "Human Rights" and the protection mechanisms of human rights at national and international level.
8 The concept of law resource and what are the resources in Turkish Law; learns the ways to access these resources with classical and electronic methods.
9 Acquires basic information about each of the various branches of law.
10 Learns the historical roots of the Public Law-Private Law distinction and discusses its value in terms of today.
11 By whom and how the law; with what authority to apply; learn application problems in terms of location and time.
12 Learns various tools of law application, comparison, interpretation methods, law gap problems.
