Objectives of the Course the aim is to introduce how psychology emerged as a science and as a profession, how it evolved, the ups and downs in the historical context.
Course Content Philosophical and physiological influences which promoted the emergence of psychology is discussed first. The declaration of psychology as a science; the former schools which were structuralism and functionalism; how functionalism guided professional psychology; how latter schools behaviorism, gestalt and psychoanalysis appeared in oppsition to former schools is studied along with the present approaches.
