Objectives of the Course This course provides an overview of basic design principles common to different design fields and applications. It aims to introduce students to an interdisciplinary design terminology and way of thinking that they can benefit from both during their education and in the later stages of their careers.
“How does a designer think?”, “What are the factors that enable us to distinguish good and bad design practices?”, “Are there rules for creating a working design?” It encourages the development of non-conclusive answers to questions such as these and a critical awareness of the general assumptions and clichés that form the basis of these answers.
Course Content In this course, through art and design examples and applications; Basic art and design principles such as point, line, texture, color, light - shadow, space - fullness, structure, rhythm, repetition, suitability, contrast, balance, sequence, order, integrity, hierarchy are discussed with applications and color theory and science, Applications are made through projects.
