Objectives of the Course The aim of this course is to give supplementary knowledge of materials science and physics to electronic engineering students that they would need to comprehend the basics of semiconductor technologies. Students would also be introduced to physical, chemical and electrical properties of materials and semiconductor devices that are used in semiconductor technologies.
Course Content Atomic bonding and energy bands, crystal structure in semiconductors, lattice defects and their influence on semiconductors, electrical classification of materials, semiconductors, semiconductor substrates, intrinsic and extrinsic semiconductors, doping in semiconductors, pn junctions.
