Objectives of the Course The aim of the lecture is to introduce the historical development and current practices in the field of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, provide them with an overall understanding of the concepts and processes and its relationship with other engineering fields as well as an understanding of engineering principles and ethical responsibility.
Course Content Course content comprises the topics of introduction of relevant concepts of Metallurgy, Material Science and Engineering, the historical development metallurgy and materials engineering in the world and in Turkey, the relationship with other science and engineering fields, the importance and applications of the field at present as well as in future, production processes, classification, general properties and behavior of the materials, metallurgical and materials engineering sector with its effects on global and national economy, social responsibility and ethics, impact of metallurgy and materials sector on the environment and introduction of the educational aims and objectives of the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering
