Type of Course Unit Compulsory
Objectives of the Course To establish the theoretical framework for planning and design of urban areas; then examplifying the process by application of planning and design principles on the selected unit housing area according to urban design concepts and theories, as well as developments in the field of urban planning and organizational planning; To establish the relationship between architecture and the city by understanding the elements, structures and processes that make up the urban environment.
Course Content Urban concepts; urban planning principles and approaches; Transferring definitions and conceptual approaches to urban design issues and carrying out design studies on the selected area accordingly.
Course Methods and Techniques The Urban Planning course will be carried out with explanations supported by visual materials and integrated with 2-3 dimensional works (sketches, models, sections, silhouettes...) in the studio.
How the course works;
• Conference presentations where lecturers will present theoretical background and literature examples,
• Group studies to be carried out in class (such as sketches, models, sections, silhouettes),
• Field and literature studies,
It will take place simultaneously under three main headings.
