Objectives of the Course 1- provision of magnetic examination skills 2- Being informed about the standards and reporting
Course Content It is a testing method used to determine surface errors. The errors don’t have to be out in the open on the surface. When a magnetic flux is applied to the surface to be tested, stray flux is created on discontinuities that are on the surface based on the positioning of these discontinuities on the surface. If ferro magnetic dusts are sprinkled on the surface to be tested, the dusts will gather on discontinuities by the pull of stray flux. This way, the discontinuities can be located. It can be applied to all ferro magnetic materials. It cannot be applied ton on ferro magnetic materials. If the discontinuity is not positioned at the proper angle to the direction of the magnetic field that is applied it cannot be determined. Very high magnetic flux may be necessary for large pieces. The result will be effected negatively if the surface to be tested is very rough. The result of the test will be effected directly by the existence and thickness of paint or cladding on the surface to be tested. It is usually necessary to do additional tasks such as demagnetization and last cleanup at the end of the test
