Objectives of the Course The aim of this course; To enable the student to acquire and develop knowledge, attitudes, and skills related to nursing roles aimed at developing, protecting and improving individual, family and community health with a scientific, holistic and ethical approach.
Course Content Historical development of nursing, professionalization process, contemporary roles of nursing, ethics in nursing, development of patient and human rights, basic concepts of nursing (human, environment, health/disease, nursing/care), conceptual framework of nursing, nursing process, basic human needs, safe environment. ensuring patient safety principles and infection control

Course Learning Outcomes: Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

1 Explains the historical development and contemporary roles of the nursing profession
2 It explains the fundamental concepts of nursing (human, environment, health, illness, care).
3 Establishes a safe nurse-patient relationship using effective communication skills with the patient
4 Discuss the importance of sleep, rest, movement and exercise for a healthy life
5 Apply current nursing interventions for pain management and infection control
6 They can plan patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes appropriately
7 Nursing care in pre/intra/post-operative surgical processes can be maintained with evidence-based approaches.
8 It performs procedures for assessing body temperature and heart rate.
9 It performs procedures to assess arterial blood pressure and respiratory rate.
10 Provide psychosocial support to patients and their families during the loss and death process
