Objectives of the Course The aim of this course is to enable students to understand the scientific research process and the role of biostatistics within this process, to teach fundamental statistical concepts, and to develop the ability to apply statistical analysis methods. In this context, students are expected to perform data entry, data management, and statistical analyses using software such as SPSS, present findings through tables and graphs, and interpret data using methods such as hypothesis testing, correlation, and regression analyses.
Course Content This course covers the scientific research process and fundamental concepts of biostatistics. Data types, levels of measurement, and descriptive statistics are examined, and data presentation through tables and graphs is addressed. Sampling methods, sampling distributions, and confidence intervals are explained, while hypothesis testing including t-tests, analysis of variance (ANOVA), and non-parametric tests are covered. In addition, correlation and regression analyses are introduced to examine relationships between variables, and all topics are supported by SPSS applications.
