Objectives of the Course The aim of this course is to provide students with knowledge about the historical development of graphic arts and significant art movements, enabling them to analyze the technical and aesthetic transformations in graphic design. Students will evaluate the influence of various art movements on graphic design and analyze the development of graphic arts in Turkey before and after the Republic period.
Course Content The course covers the technical and aesthetic transformation of graphic arts throughout history, the influence of significant art movements on graphic design, and the development of graphic arts in Turkey before and after the Republic period. Students will analyze key movements such as the invention of the printing press, the Renaissance, Baroque, Art Nouveau, Bauhaus, and more, evaluating their impact on graphic design.
Course Methods and Techniques The course will be conducted both theoretically and practically. The theoretical part will focus on the historical development of graphic arts and significant art movements, examining their influence on graphic design. In the practical part, students will analyze the aesthetic and technical transformation of graphic design throughout history. The course will also evaluate the development of graphic arts in Turkey before and after the Republic period.
