Objectives of the Course The aim of this course is to develop listening, speaking and note-taking skills for academic purposes. The lectures are done as class works, discussions and presentations. Listening for main ideas, preparing presentations, to form discussions in class, speaking about specific, updated issues and taking notes from written and oral sources are also primarily aim of this course.
Course Content In this course, our students have different courses such as writing, reading, speaking and listening in addition to grammar lessons. At the end of this course, they can understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. They can express opinions on abstract/cultural matters on specific topics or offer advice within a known area, and understand instructions or public announcements.

They can deal with most situations likely to arise while travelling in countries where English is spoken. They can enter unprepared into conversation on topics that are familiar, of personal interest or pertinent to everyday life. They can express their opinions in a simple way in order to describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions.

As of reading comprehension they can understand texts that consist mainly of high frequency every day or job-related language. They can understand the description of events, feelings and wishes in personal letters.

They can write simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest. They can write personal letters describing experiences and impressions.
Course Methods and Techniques The Ecclectic Method is used throughout the course, and the Grammar Translation Method and Communicative Approach techniques are also used when deemed necessary by the instructor.
