Objectives of the Course This course aims to enable students to explain, evaluate, and design at a basic level wage management systems that support internal pay equity in organizations, consider external competitiveness through market data, and are based on data-driven decision-making by using job analysis and job evaluation methods.
Course Content This course examines compensation management within the framework of strategic human resource management, with particular emphasis on internal pay equity and the balance of external competitiveness. Drawing on job analysis data, the course covers the job evaluation process, quantitative and non-quantitative job evaluation methods, and the interpretation of market wage surveys. It also analyzes pay grading structures, the development of pay bands, performance-based bonus and incentive systems, and fringe benefit practices. In addition, tax and social security practices in payroll processes, as well as the ethical and legal dimensions of compensation management, are discussed.
Course Methods and Techniques This course will be delivered through lectures, discussions, case analyses, practical applications, project-based studies, group work, and presentations. Fundamental concepts and relevant legislation will be covered through lectures and discussions, while issues related to compensation policies and pay equity will be examined through case analysis. Studies on job evaluation and the development of pay bands will be conducted through practice-based and project-based activities. Student learning will also be supported through group work and presentations.
