Type of Program Formal Education
Type of Course Unit Compulsory
Course Delivery Method Face To Face
Objectives of the Course To provide students with the ability to design and present the functionalization and concept development of a hotel (city hotel, congress hotel, tourist hotel, boutique hotel, etc.) space, taking into account the relationships between an existing building located in the city center or a touristic town and its surroundings and users. (A guest house project for students and faculty members of Istanbul Gedik University Pendik Campus will be worked on in the fall semester of the 2024-2025 Academic Year.)
Course Content Students are expected to analyze the possibilities and limits of the determined areas and determine the current situation with sketches and models. They should determine the spatial and functional requirements by conducting in-depth research on the design problem. A design concept should be created depending on the context, space characteristics, scenario, workflow and requirements, and developed with sketches, models and 3D programs. The design idea should be created by considering spatial functions, environment and user relations with form, material, color, texture and furniture applications. Interior solutions for the guesthouse should be prepared for the final presentation with 1/50, 1/20, 1/10 and 1/5 scale architectural drawings, perspectives and a working model.
