Objectives of the Course Students; ecology and sustainability concepts, human health, natural environmental resources, interaction of construction and environmental problems, physical environmental data, ecological and sustainable design principles, effects of designs on energy use, inclusion of energy efficiency measures in designs, energy efficient interior technologies and materials to gain the ability to choose.
Course Content Course content; Sustainability issues and areas, institutions in sustainability, international agreements and standards, methods and indicators, solutions and measures and alternative approaches, sustainable development objectives, ecological and sustainable design criteria, ecological architecture - sustainable architecture - energy efficient architecture concepts, sustainable interior architecture and sustainable interior architecture methods, ecological and sustainable building materials, legal regulations for sustainable spaces, examples of energy efficient buildings, sustainable settlements.
Course Methods and Techniques Ppt by supporting the theoretical information compiled from sources with examples. Presentation
Theoretical discussions in class. Application of what they have learnt with homework.

Course Learning Outcomes: Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

1 Gains basic knowledge about ecology and sustainability and within this scope, learns about design elements, principles and related theories.
2 Understands sustainability and ecology approach and its effects on interior architecture in terms of social, economic, cultural and physical contexts.
3 Has an understanding that the conditions under which energy and environmental concepts are prioritised affect design and construction decisions.
4 They make design or product-material selection based on human health, environment and energy resources, in accordance with project criteria, human and environmental health standards.
5 Interior designers know the effects of design decisions regarding acoustics, thermal comfort and indoor air quality on human health and the environment, taking into account environmental impacts and human health and safety.
