Course Content
|
This course focuses on reading, analyzing, and interpreting fundamental texts written in the field of art and design. Texts selected from disciplines such as art history, design theory, aesthetics, critical theory, and cultural studies offer students the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of art and design. Within the scope of the course, artist manifestos, design principles, exhibition catalogs, and theoretical writings are examined, and the understanding of art and design in different periods is discussed. Students evaluate how art and design practice is shaped by social, political, and cultural contexts through the texts. In addition, critical thinking skills are developed through individual reading and group discussions. Projects and written analyses carried out throughout the semester contribute to students forming their own artistic and design perspectives based on the texts they read. This comprehensive content aims to provide students with a solid theoretical foundation for both their academic and creative processes.
