Course Content
|
his course comprehensively covers fundamental theoretical approaches and applied analytical methods in the field of visual methodology. Topics such as visual culture theories, iconography, iconology, representation, and ideology form the cornerstones of the course. Methods for analyzing visual data across different media, such as photography, cinema, advertising, and digital media, are examined. In line with postmodern and poststructuralist approaches, students develop the ability to analyze the multi-layered meanings of visuals. In addition, fieldwork processes of collecting and examining visual data using ethnographic methods are also an important part of the course. While developing their critical visual literacy skills, students carry out practical analysis work, individual projects, and group presentations throughout the course. At the end of the semester, students integrate the knowledge they have acquired and present it through an exhibition or project work. This comprehensive content aims to equip students with the ability to analyze visual materials both theoretically and practically.
