Objectives of the Course The aim of this course is to provide students with a fundamental understanding of ramp services and ramp safety, as well as to highlight the importance of the equipment and activities involved in flight operations. Furthermore, it aims to enable students to relate ramp operations to other aviation units and to evaluate operational processes holistically.
Course Content This course covers ground handling equipment, apron signage and regulations, operational processes around aircraft, and ramp safety. Basic ground handling operations such as cargo, baggage, and mail loading and unloading, marshalling, passenger and crew transportation, aircraft cleaning, and water, fuel, and energy supply are examined. Additionally, FOD (Forest-Ox Damage) prevention programs, de-icing and ice removal, pushback, and other apron operations are also included in the course.

Course Learning Outcomes: Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

1 Understands the scope of ground handling services and the operation of ramp services.
2 Identifies and classifies the equipment and tools used in the ramp unit.
3 The apron operator recognizes PAT area markings, knows the rules in these areas, and can explain FOD (Foreign Object Defect) management.
4 Can explain loading principles and understand different loading types.
5 Analyzes basic ramp service processes such as push-back, towing, and de-icing/anti-icing, and understands the risks.
6 Knows about digitalization and new technologies used in Ramp Services, and understands their contributions to operational processes.
