Objectives of the Course The aim of this course is for students to learn occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations, to ensure production and operational safety, to gain knowledge and skills for protecting themselves against hazards related to identified risks, and to understand the impact of OHS awareness on the formation of safety culture. Having a predictive mindset will enable them to detect dangerous situations and behaviors that could lead to accidents at an early stage, assess risks, and understand the development of occupational diseases, as well as the implications of various events they may encounter in working life (occupational accidents, occupational diseases, termination of employment, etc.) and the corresponding penalties mandated by regulations. They will also understand how individuals can contribute to creating a safe working environment in the formation of an OHS culture.
Course Content Starting with the historical development of OHS, the translation covers: OHS regulations, policy, and the parties involved in OHS; accident causation models; concepts of incident, accident, near-miss, occupational accident, and occupational disease; sectoral assessment; OHS concepts in the aviation industry; formation of safety culture; risk factors and protective measures; ergonomics; psychosocial risks; risk assessment methods; Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS) and sector-specific applications.
Course Methods and Techniques Presentation, assignment as weekly (reading and on youtube), case studies.

2 Being able to classify hazard and risk factors in workplaces, and to define work accidents and occupational diseases
3 Being able to explain risk factors that may threaten health in the aviation sector, as well as policies and practices aimed at emergencies
4 Being able to understand the impact of OHS (occupational health and safety) culture on the safety management system in aviation, and to recognize the importance of personal protective equipment (PPE)
