Objectives of the Course
|
This course aims to enable students to understand the physical properties of light, including its wave and particle characteristics, the fundamental principles of optical systems, and the optical phenomena occurring in optical devices. It also provides a foundational background for understanding the working principles of optical systems such as lenses, mirrors, prisms, and the schematic eye.

Course Content
|
Nature of light; wave model of light; particle nature of light; electromagnetic spectrum; laws of reflection and refraction; lenses; mirrors; prisms and dispersion in prisms; image formation in plane and spherical mirrors; schematic eye and its optical properties.
