Objectives of the Course The definition and general features of the sea, the physiography of the sea bottom, the chemical and physical properties of seawater and harmful aquatic life will be taught.
Course Content Historical development of oceanography, General characteristics of earth and ocean, Geological oceanography, Chemical oceanography, Physical oceanography, Dynamic physical oceanography, Biological oceanography and marine life harmful to man living in aquatic environment.

2 Physiography of the ocean bottom, the general physiographic features of the oceans
3 Shape, size and source of the sediments, sedimentation velocity and vertical and geographic distribution of sediments
4 The overall composition of seawater and processes that affect the composition of sea water; the dissolved inorganic substances in sea water
5 Dissolved organic substances, gases in seawater and organic and inorganic particles in suspension
6 Temperature, Salinity, pressure, density characteristics and their distributions in the oceans
7 TS diagram, the concepts of water type and water mass optical, acoustical and other physical properties of sea water
8 Mid-term Exam
9 Currents, waves and general properties
10 Med-tide movements, seas as the field of life, marine biota
11 Ecological classification of marine environment and organisms, ecological factors and their impact on organisms
12 Living communities of Pelagic and benthic zones
13 Efficiency of marine organic matter and organic matter cycle; Marine biological, chemical, geological and physical resources and benefiting from them
14 Oceanologic researches and research tools are mainly used in these researches
