Objectives of the Course To gain knowledge and skills about children with special needs and their general characteristics. To gain knowledge about the causes of special needs, diagnosis and education. To gain knowledge about inclusion practices. To gain knowledge about working with families.
Course Content
Children with special needs and special education, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities and autism, learning disabilities, hearing disabilities, language and speech disorders, emotional and behavioral disorders, visual disabilities, physical disabilities, giftedness and talent, inclusive education.

Course Learning Outcomes: Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

1 Explains the basic concepts related to special education. 2. Explain the history of special education.
2 Will be able to discuss laws and regulations related to special education.
3 Will be able to list the relationship between parents, family and specialists and the emotions experienced in the family in case there is a special needs individual in the family.
4 Will be able to define different types of disability.
5 Will be able to discuss the causes, characteristics, prevalence rates, appropriate educational practices and problems in different types of disability.
6 Will be able to discuss the basic principles of establishing and maintaining effective cooperation.
