Objectives of the Course
|
the aim is to introduce how psychology emerged as a science and as a profession, how it evolved, the ups and downs in the historical context.

Course Content
|
Philosophical and physiological influences which promoted the emergence of psychology is discussed first. The declaration of psychology as a science; the former schools which were structuralism and functionalism; how functionalism guided professional psychology; how latter schools behaviorism, gestalt and psychoanalysis appeared in oppsition to former schools is studied along with the present approaches.
